Staycation with Friends

Just two and a half weeks after Jake and I returned from Europe, a couple of our best friends visited for two weeks. If you follow me on Instagram and have watched my recent Instagram stories, you may have suspected that my late June/early July schedule wasn’t very typical. As much as I love eating out for lunch and dinner and enjoying daily Milwaukee outings and nightly concerts, my day to day life is just a little bit different.

I spent those entire two and a half weeks between Europe and our friends visiting pushing ahead on blog posts and work projects as well as working on a bunch of random tasks around the house. I had every intention to set aside an hour or so in the mornings while they were here to do blog social media promotion and a little other work. I absolutely did not do that once and don’t regret it at all. I had enough content scheduled that my numbers stayed pretty steady. And I actually got some real relaxation time at home, which basically never happens.

Milwaukee Events – July 2017

Milwaukee Events - July 2017 |

Of course, it wouldn’t be summer in Milwaukee without a day at Summerfest! 2017 marks 50 years of Summerfest, and they’re pulling out all the stops for this year’s celebration. Proclaimed the World’s Largest Music Festival, approximately 900,000 people flock to the lakeside grounds to see 800 bands on 11 stages as well as enjoy delicious food and drinks, shopping, and other entertainment. The 2017 festivities take place June 28-July 2 and July 4-9.

Milwaukee Polish Fest 2017

Polish Fest 2017 |

This past weekend Polish Fest took place in Milwaukee. The largest celebration of Polish heritage and history in the United States, it’s always the first big ethnic festival to kick off the season at Henry Maier Festival Park. It’s officially festival season here in Milwaukee. Polish Fest is one of three events I attended over the weekend. On Saturday, Jake and I had lunch and listened to some polka at the Downtown Racine German Fest and then headed up to Milwaukee for the Lakefront Festival of Art. Jake and I have browsed the art festival for several years now and finally made some purchases this weekend. We bought some art while on the cruise, too, so I may be sharing more about our new pieces later this summer as we get them displayed.

I took pictures at Polish Fest, so that’s what I’m sharing in more detail today. Milwaukee is so fortunate to have Henry Maier Festival Park. Home to Summerfest, it’s an enormous festival space with ample room for all of the ethnic festival activities – food, drink, craft demonstrations, shopping, genealogy, live music, dancing, and more. You can stay right in the heart of the action or spread out with your food or let your kids run around along the lakefront.
