This past week our Genevieve turned 10 months old!
At her nine-month doctor’s appointment, Genevieve weighed 17 pounds 6 ounces (32nd percentile), measured 26 inches in length (3rd percentile), and had a head circumference of 17 inches (27th percentile).
Genevieve is rolling all over the place and spending tons of time on her tummy. She can get where she wants pretty effectively by just rolling. The last week or so Genevieve just started doing a limited army crawl.
Genevieve does long stretches in the Exer-saucer and Baby Einstein jumper. She enjoys a lot of the baby toys that Tommy and Olivia did. Lately, Genevieve also reaches for baby books. Mostly she chews on books but sometimes she looks at them. Genevieve continues to love clapping and claps all the time. She loves the reinforcement of getting people to clap with her.
Genevieve is very ticklish and has the best laugh. We all love making her laugh. Genevieve has a very good sense of humor. Both Tommy and Olivia make her laugh constantly. I love watching them interact on their own, such as while we’re eating or in the car.
Genevieve says “dada” all the time and is starting to put together that it actually means Daddy. She’s reached the stage where she talks constantly and more and more, and the babbling is starting to sound like words. But she doesn’t say anything besides “dada” consistently yet.
Genevieve remains the most contented little camper tagging along for the kids’ activities. I wasn’t using the baby car seat carrier anymore at 10 months with either Tommy or Olivia. I’m so grateful that she still does so well with it. I maximize the opportunities that she has to be out of her carrier to help her get through the longer stretches riding around in it. Our main outings this past month have been soccer practices and games and hanging out with family. We also fit in a trip to Margie’s Garden.
Sometime this past month Genevieve moved up to a solid four eight-ounce bottles every day and is holding steady there. Genevieve is very interested in regular food and has eaten baby cookies or puffs on a few occasions. The biggest challenge is that Genevieve isn’t sitting up independently and won’t do long enough stints in the high chair to eat there. The other challenge is that Genevieve doesn’t have any teeth yet.
Last month Genevieve transitioned to the swaddle without arms, which went pretty smoothly. This month we transitioned Genevieve out of the baby lounger in her crib, which was a little rougher. She just wants to roll constantly. Usually, she settles pretty well at night now. Sometimes I still put her down for an afternoon nap in her bassinet with the baby lounger.
Genevieve continues to need a morning nap about half the time and takes a longer nap in the afternoon at the same time as Olivia. She continues to sleep through the night. The only challenge is that Genevieve wants to wake up really early. Most days it’s a struggle to make it to 7 a.m.
