This past week our Annie turned 15 months old!
Annie is going to the doctor for her 15 month checkup in a couple of weeks. I’ll have updated stats for her in my next update.
Annie has been taking as many as ten steps at a time. She’s such a fast crawler that she still reverts to crawling when she wants to get around more quickly. But Annie has all of the skills to start walking. I’m looking forward to her walking (and yes, running before we know it) when we’re in the yard and when we’re out at playgrounds and whatnot. Annie is no longer content to stay in the pack ‘n play on the patio or in a stroller at the playground for very long. But she’s still crawling, so she gets really dirty, and she puts everything in her mouth. You have to watch Annie really closely with rocks and wood chips and whatnot.
Annie absolutely loves the Baby Shark song right now. Olivia and Genevieve love listening to it on Cocomelon and and playing in on their Toniebox. Annie sings along with Baby Shark almost every time and will even start singing it on her own. Annie has also become a huge fan of the French Grund books that play music and have other sounds. We have a bird book and a nature book, and Annie loves both of them. When we’re listening to music, at least half of the time, Annie is nodding her head right in time to the music.
Annie has been saying so many words the past month. I mentioned last month that she’d started saying “thank you” intentionally but not consistently. Over the past few weeks, Annie has been saying “thank you” much more consistently. She’s constantly handing us items and saying “thank you.” Annie also loves saying hi and will say it over and over again. Sometimes, she’ll say, “hi, Daddy.” Annie says “no” fairly intentionally and “stop” less intentionally. She’s repeated a lot of other words, but there aren’t any more that she says consistently yet.
Annie loves baths so much. She’ll climb right and out of the tub on her own, so we have to keep such a close eye on her while we’re getting a bath ready and while she’s in the bath. Annie is fearless in the water. She spends lots of time on her stomach in the bathtub and isn’t afraid to get her face wet. Annie loves playing with the bath toys and does such a good job letting me wash her hair.
Annie has been cutting her fifth tooth. It’s on the top right next to the middle two teeth. The tooth has been coming in so slowly but hasn’t been giving her any teething symptoms.
Annie’s new favorite food has been buttered toast. She’ll eat it for any meal. Annie doesn’t love cheese sticks, but she’ll eat most other types of cheese, especially if I’m eating it, too. The older three kids have been on a big spaghetti kick lately, and Annie really likes it, too. Annie continues to enjoy grapes, apples, breakfast sausage, Hawaiian rolls, calzones, meat snack sticks, hot dogs, and pizza.
Annie is still drinking quite a bit of milk, exclusively out of bottles. I haven’t started transitioning her off of them yet. Annie will still drink three to five ounces at a time. We are slowly spacing out the bottles more, and she’s done better going without milk or going longer between bottles on outings. When we’re at home, I always give her water in a sippy cup. When we’re out, I use a bottle for water.
Now that we have cooler weather, I finally went through all of the 12-18-month clothing that we have from the older three kids. Annie has quite a bit of 6-12-month clothing that still fits her. As she needs more pants, long-sleeved shirts, and long-sleeved dresses, I’ll keep moving more 12-18-month items into her drawers. Getting Annie to wear socks and shoes has been a struggle. She does okay with socks for short periods of time when we’re out and about but won’t keep them on at home or in the car.
Annie only had one night this past month where she was up multiple times during the night and had a lot of trouble settling. Jake got up and rocked her for a while, and then she finally went to sleep in the pack ‘n play right next to our bed. Annie has done really well making it all the way through the night without a bottle. There have only been a couple of times that I got her a bottle before 6 a.m. Annie is still sleeping during the night from 7 or 8 p.m. until 6 or 7 a.m.
Annie naps really well when we’re at home all day, almost always sleeping for at least two, often three hours. Sometimes, I’m still able to transfer her when she falls asleep in the car. But at least half the time, if we’re out and about in the morning and she falls asleep in the car on the way home, then she’s up for the afternoon, even if she only slept for 15 minutes. Sometimes, I’m able to plan our outings so that she gets at least an hour of sleep in the car around her nap time. Other times, she just toughs it out with a shorter nap. When Tommy has school, I put Annie down by 11:30 a.m. so she’s up in time to get him. When Tommy doesn’t have school, we can push a little bit later if she’s up for it.
