Today I’m kicking off my series of posts highlighting each destination on our May/June 2017 Mediterranean cruise. Back in the summer right after the cruise, I shared highlights, travel tips, and camera gear recommendations. Now that I’m settling into a groove at home with a 6+ month old and making it a priority to edit my trip pictures, I’m taking you through each destination.
I’m starting the tour with our first day in Rome. Our cruise started and ended in Rome, which meant we had time in Rome on either end of the cruise. (Big cruise ships, including the one we took, actually sail in and out of the port in Civitavecchia, about an hour and a half away. But typically, you fly in and out of Rome.) We got into Rome mid-day and had a little time in the city before heading to the hotel for food and later in the evening, a reception with our travel group (we were part of a radio listener group from southeast WI).
The shots I’m sharing here are from the first hours in Rome, wandering on our own and then taking a few snaps from the bus. We did take two guided tours in Rome (one before and one after the cruise) and had some more free time at the end of the trip, all of which I’ll be sharing in future posts.
Wow what a great trip! and amazing photos
