Here’s a little peek at what our family was up to this past month!
I hope that everyone had a great final month of summer and is enjoying a beautiful September! Here’s what we were up to the last month.
We kicked off the month with a visit with my brother. The kids took the Power Wheels Jeep for a spin while he was here.
Tommy and I do our regular dental checkups one right after the other. We have the best hygenist, and Tommy is always a rock star.
The girls and I went to the Milwaukee Zoo. Olivia really wasn’t sure about getting so close to the tiger. But as always, she was so brave and ended up enjoying the experience.
The kids and I made an excursion to Bookworm Gardens. We just went for the first time last summer. I was so excited to go back this year. The kids especially enjoyed the Laura Ingalls Wilder setup, the Goldilocks and the Three Bears chairs, and all of the water features.
Some good friends had us over for dinner. A homecooked meal that I don’t have to make myself is always a treat.
A garbage truck broke down right in front of our house. It took several hours for them to get a repair truck out and get it up and running again. Tommy and Olivia were both fascinated ha.
Jake took a handful of long weekends this summer. On one of his Fridays off, we went to the Milwaukee Zoo. This is literally the only picture that I took during our entire time there.
We made our annual family outing to the Bristol Renaissance Faire. It hadn’t worked out to hit the Steampunk weekend in years, and we hadn’t dressed up since 2016 (you can see that here). We got the most amazing cooler day and wore our costumes. Both kids enjoyed the joust, and Tommy had so much fun at a booth where you can try on various armor.
Tommy and I made a stop at one of the local orchards following his annual doctor’s appointment for donuts and a few other goodies.
The girls and I made a couple of excursions to Margie’s Garden. It just opened this summer and has been such an amazing addition to the botanic gardens. Of course, Olivia is crazy about the slides. She also loves the little houses. We’ve seen so many butterflies in the garden this past month.
We made a trip to the Domes with Tommy’s birthday buddy and another adoptive family. The kids spent well over an hour playing in the education center.
We saw the kids’ cousins a couple of times later in the month. Our in-laws had us over and got out the slip ‘n slide and did s’mores.
Then the following weekend, we met my mother-in-law and our nieces at the zoo. My mom was able to come with us, too.
