Here’s a little peek at what we’ve been up to this past month!
It’s been a challenging month as my mom has had some health issues, and it’s been a huge transition getting back into the school routine. Tommy’s school day moved up 25 minutes this year, and Genevieve joined Olivia for two days of preschool.
I am getting more kids ready earlier than ever, and we’re all struggling. But we fit in quite a bit of final summer fun and had a wonderful time celebrating Annie’s first birthday.
The kids and I had a final big summer Friday outing a couple of weeks before school actually started because it was the last available Friday to do it. We went to an indoor playspace in the morning, had lunch at Culver’s, and went to the Domes in the afternoon. It was over 100 degrees in the show dome, so we ended the day in the fountains outside the Domes.
We met Tommy’s birth mom and grandma at a park in Kenosha. It was a beautiful day, and we had a lovely time hanging out for a couple of hours.
I went back to the Domes with Genevieve and Annie the next week.
The girls and I had an outing to one of the zoos.
We spent a couple of days with my brother who was back in the States for a few weeks. It wouldn’t be a family get together these days without a few wagon rides.
My in-laws wanted to have their own birthday celebration with Annie a couple of days before her actual birthday. We celebrated with them and my nieces.
Our time at my in-laws’ house also included a pool and slip ‘n slide for the older cousins.
Tommy had been wanting to go to one of the local apple orchards all summer. We finally fit in a visit the week before he started school.
Jake took off Annie’s actual birthday. The six of us went to Green Meadows. It was a beautiful day and such a lovely way to celebrate her.
Olivia wouldn’t let Annie nap on the way back from Green Meadows. She crashed extra early that night. So we did her cake and presents the next night.
Then it was back to school for Tommy. We spent so much time preparing for him to start kindergarten. I still haven’t processed that he’s in first grade.
We ended the month with a trip to Green Bay over Labor Day weekend. In August, we toured Lambeau Field and went to the National Railroad Museum.
I’ll talk more about the trip in next month’s update and may write a separate post about it as well.
