Milwaukee St. Patrick’s Day events

51st Annual Shamrock Club of Wisconsin St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Saturday, March 11 at noon. The parade kicks off at 3rd and Wisconsin and wraps up at Water and Highland. One of the best and largest St. Patrick’s Day parades in the country, the event features over 140 units, including floats, marching bands, bagpipes, Irish & Celtic organizations, and local politicians and celebrities.

Shamrock Club of Wisconsin’s Post-Parade Party: Saturday, March 11, 1:00-6:00 p.m. Following the parade, head to the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center for the largest, family-friendly event in the city. A tradition for over four decades, the event features four stages, including a children’s stage, as well as food and drink. $5/person, $15/family, children 5 and under get in free.

St. Patrick’s Day mass: Saturday, March 11, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 723 W. Washington St., Milwaukee. The mass includes readings and songs in Irish and English, the Shamrock Club Choir singing the liturgy, a sign reader signing the liturgy, and the Shamrock Club Color Guard, Pipes, and Drums piping in the colors and standing as honor guard. There is a full breakfast afterward in Parlor B, $10/person. Make reservations with Glenn Nowak at [email protected].

Blarney Run/Walk: Saturday, March 11, 10:00 a.m. at the Friends of Hoyt Park and Pool Grand Hall. The course includes a 5K run or 2-mile walk. There is also a 200-yard “Twinkle Trot” for children age 10 and younger. The registration fee includes a t-shirt.

Irish Week 2017: The Shamrock Club and Westown team up to offer Irish entertainment and culture the week leading up to the St. Patrick’s Day parade. The week kicks off on March 2 with the Shamrock Club’s monthly meeting and annual birthday party at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center at 7:00 p.m. Starting March 8, the Shops of Grand Avenue are featuring daily lunchtime entertainment, including local Irish bands and dance schools. On March 10, participate in the press conference, ShamRock the Avenue, at the Miller Time Pub in the Hilton Hotel Downtown.

The Mitchell Park Domes are also free to Milwaukee County residents on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The Great Train Robbery Train Show runs through the entire month of March!
