Here’s a little peek at what we were up to the past month!
I started and ended the month taking pictures of Tommy and Annie. There’s nothing quite like the relationship between the oldest kid and the youngest kid.
My in-laws were watching my nieces during the week that Tommy’s school had conferences. My mother-in-law and I took all of the cousins to an indoor play space on the morning that Tommy had off school.
I haven’t talked much here about how we bought a house a few blocks away from us at the end of 2020. It was just a couple of months before Olivia was born. My parents have been renting it from us ever since. It’s where they stay when they visit us, and on occasion, the kids and/or I hang out there, too. On this visit, the girls helped my mom make old-school cinnamon rolls from a tube.
The same day that the girls and I were hanging out at the rental, Olivia and Genevieve painted with watercolors back at our house.
We got a beautiful day in the middle of the month to go to the zoo with some close friends. Jake and my mom were both able to join us, and Annie was awake for a good part of the visit.
My kids’ music school hosted a parents’ Thanksgiving night out event the weekend before Thanksgiving. Our oldest three were all old enough to attend and had such a good time. Jake and I took Annie with us out to dinner for a couple of hours. We are all so grateful for this opportunity.
My parents and one of my aunts, uncles, and cousins joined us for Thanksgiving dinner. When we host Thanksgiving, I’m the one who cooks all of the food. As such, I have very few pictures of Thanksgiving Day. (Remember last year’s roll making/eating picture? That’s the only picture I have of Thanksgiving from last year.) My mom, Tommy, Olivia, and Genevieve made the place cards for Thanksgiving.
I took more pictures later in the weekend. The kids all piled into one of the pop-up tents one morning.
Genevieve’s birthday falls during the week of Thanksgiving. My parents were still in town, and my in-laws joined us that evening for dessert and presents. Olivia insisted that I use a blue candle after I already had purple candles in the pie, so we did the “one candle for good luck” thing. I waited to make our apple pie until her birthday, and she ate the entire slice.
