I’m continuing my summer memories series on the blog, featuring another event I did not share in a timely fashion following Tommy’s birth. Tommy was just a couple weeks old when Jake and I attended Bristol this year. He didn’t come with us, which worked out for the best, because it ended up raining quite a bit. Next year, he’ll be a year old and will enjoy it a lot more. Meanwhile, I attended it in a newborn sleep deprived state and didn’t even look at my pictures for weeks.
The Bristol Renaissance Faire is one of my absolute favorite events of the summer. People always try to tell me that the Wisconsin State Fair offers the best people watching around, but Bristol is ten times better. Jake and I have been to Bristol nearly a dozen times and don’t feel a need to hit every show every time anymore. Consequently, the pictures I’m sharing from the 2017 Faire represent just a small portion of what Bristol has to offer.
We saw about half of the Barely Balanced show before the rain forced them to call it quits. I got some of the best pictures of the performers while they were hanging out waiting for the rain to clear.
Jake and I missed Steampunk weekend in 2017, so we didn’t dress up. Hopefully we’ll hit it again in 2018. You can see our costumes here.
Save the date! The 2018 Bristol Renaissance Faire runs every weekend from July 7-Sept. 3, 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Consult the website for more details.
