March Clearfield Family Update

Here’s a little peek at what we were up to the past month!

Lake Geneva Sparkling Cider

While we didn’t have quite as much sickness in March as we did in January and February, poor Tommy still got wiped out with an ear infection – his first as well as his first round of antibiotics. We also still had our share of lousy weather. Thankfully, the past few weeks have gone a little more smoothly. We’re hopeful that we’re finally turning a corner. We’re looking forward to a lot more time outside over the coming months.

Now that I’ve officially announced my pregnancy, I can be a little more real with you about the other big reason that we had such a low-key winter and early spring. It still would have been a rough few months. We had so much sickness and so many events and activities get postponed or canceled due to lousy weather as well. I also dealt with a lot of nausea (not puking, thankfully) and fatigue in my first trimester. I wasn’t motivated to do anything beyond what was absolutely necessary. I’ve been feeling so much better in my second trimester.

Tommy

We had a fantastic visit with Tommy’s birth family at his birth mom’s family house. It was the first time we’d been there since March 2020. It was so much fun to hang out with all of them and some of their extended family. The kids had the best time socializing, playing with their dog, decorating cookies, painting wooden Easter eggs, and eating all of the snacks.

Tommy and Brookelynn

That same weekend, we also fit in a visit with my in-laws and the kids’ cousins. I cannot even get over this picture of Tommy and his cousin.

Genevieve and Kinsley

My younger niece is right in between Olivia’s and Genevieve’s ages. They’re just starting to interact with each other a little more during visits. I can’t wait to see how the three of them play together as they get older.

Tommy

We hosted two other couples and their kids, which was so nice. Then a couple of days after that event, two of us from that group met up to take our kids to the Milwaukee Public Museum. I hadn’t been to the museum since Tommy and I saw Deck the Streets of Old Milwaukee in the winter of 2017-2018. It was so much fun to have an outing there again. The kids especially enjoyed the bicycle and movie theater in the Streets of Old Milwaukee.

Lake Geneva The Grandview

Then we ended the month with my birthday and a two-night, kid-free trip to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. I’ll have a separate post about the trip next month. It’ll have details about where we stayed, what we ate, and what we did.

Olivia

The kids stayed with my in-laws while we were gone. We got back on my actual birthday and did presents and cake (or in Olivia’s case, as pictured here, cookies) with them before we headed home.
