After the craziness of Christmas decorating, present buying and wrapping, baking, cleaning for company, etc., who has the energy to spend hours getting ready for a New Year’s Eve party?
Last-minute New Year’s Eve party ideas to the rescue! I’ve rounded up my favorite food, printables, and decor ideas (including some fun DIYs, of course!) to make your new years as stress-free and fun as possible. Here’s to a great end to 2016!
I love this simple, sparkly New Year’s Eve decor from Kami of No Biggie. I’m sure most of you who love DIY projects already have the majority of the supplies on hand to make these beautiful bottles. You can pick up everything else you need at Michaels or on Amazon.
A glittery paper star headband is a fun alternative to New Year’s party hats. Pick up the tutorial on Lia Griffith.
Sara and Melissa of Alice & Lois have a fun New Year’s game printable to get everyone sharing some of their highlights from the past year.
For the right crowd, photo booth props are the best. Grab the New Year’s printables from The Life of Jennifer Dawn. If you want to take your New Year’s photos up another notch, consider making your own photo background or backdrop. There are a wealth of photo backdrop tutorials out there. To get you started, visit Oh Happy Day and Somewhat Simple.
A custom playlist takes away the hassle of loading up music for the party but is a little more conducive to extended listening than a streaming radio station, which isn’t always well paced or just doesn’t provide enough variety. Grab a New Year’s Eve playlist from Sugar & Soul.
Of course, no New Year’s Eve party is complete without a little food and drink. Savory appetizers are a welcome change of pace after the plethora of sweets most of us consume at Christmas (not complaining). Check out the roundup over at Inspired By Lucille. These days my go-to savory appetizers are chicken lettuce wraps, Hawaiian roll ham and Swiss sliders, and a mini version of my pizza calzones. Yesterday I shared the mini version of my pizza calzones. If you need even a few more ideas, check out my appetizers Pinterest board. If you aren’t over sweet appetizers yet, pick up a few recipes from my cookies board.
I made Jessica’s cranberry Chai sangria for a get together in November, and it was awesome. I LOVE Chai, and cranberry is perfect for winter. She also recently shared recipes for honey vanilla pear margaritas and pear sangria, both of which would be great for New Year’s as well. If you’re looking for non-alcoholic options, I have a non-alcoholic drinks round-up I put together for Thanksgiving. Again, all of these flavor combinations will carry you right through the winter.
Finally, for the finishing touch for your New Year’s drinks, make your own etched champagne glasses. Sondra Lyn at Home has a quick, easy tutorial with festive New Year’s decorating ideas for your glasses. Create beautiful glasses you’ll love pulling out year after year for New Year’s Eve parties or give them away as party favors.
