Free printable vintage Christmas postcards are ideal for one-of-a-kind holiday cards and wall decor. They’re also perfect for numerous Christmas crafts.
I’ve put together a collection of 30 free printable vintage Christmas postcards. The vivid, detailed hand-painted and hand-drawn illustrations on antique postcards are absolutely fabulous and unlikely anything you’ll find today. Vintage postcard images are perfect for making your own Christmas cards. They also create easy, whimsical wall art pieces.
Additionally, you can use antique postcards for numerous holiday projects, including but not limited to, ornaments, gift tags, pendant necklaces, magnets, tile coasters, decoupage, art/junk journals, digital and physical scrapbooks, and scrapbook embellishments.
Printable vintage Christmas postcard formats
Each postcard ZIP folder includes the following three formats.
- Original ratio (3.5″ x 5.5″). All of the holiday postcards are standard size, which is 3.5″ x 5.5.” Downloading the postcards in their original ratio gives you the most creative control for cropping and formatting for specific wall art and DIY projects.
- 4×6. I’ve formatted all of the holiday postcards in their original ratio with 0.5″ white borders on all sides for easy 4×6 printing. As virtually every printing service has 4×6 as a standard size (as opposed to 3.5″ x 5.5,” which is all but impossible to find) and there are tons of 4×6 frames available, offering this format is the simplest way to provide quick, affordable printing.
- 8×10. I know that many readers have arrived at this post looking for free vintage Christmas images to use for holiday decor. Similarly, 8×10 is a popular size for both printing and framing. Again, the 8×10 format has a white border. I’ve found that it is the simplest way to keep roughly the original postcard ratio and find a frame with or without a mat that will work well.

After the individual postcard downloads, I also have the following downloads available.
- A set of 8.5″ x 11″ pages with two original ratio postcards on each page. For your convenience for art/junk journals and DIY projects, I’ve made a set of 15 8.5″ x 11″ pages with two postcards per page. The pages make it easy to print the full postcard collection at home or via a printing service without printing each postcard on a separate piece of paper.
- Two digital collage sheets with ATC-size images. ATC-size crops (2.5″ x 3.5″) are intended for artist trading cards. They are also ideal for numerous craft projects where you’d prefer smaller, more detailed illustrations, such as greeting cards, magnets, and pendant necklaces.
All of the postcard images, 8.5″ x 11″ pages, and digital collage sheets are 300 dpi to ensure the best print quality possible.

About the free printable vintage Christmas postcards
You may download and print the vintage postcards, 8.5″ x 11″ pages, and digital collage sheets as many times as you like for personal use, which includes classroom use. You may use the images and collage sheets for limited runs (5,000 items or less) of physical items to sell. Physical item use DOES NOT include made-to-order sites, such as Redbubble and Society6.
You may also use the images and collage sheets for limited runs (5,000 items or less) of digital items to sell. Digital items must be flat, finished pieces (i.e., not Photoshop files). The items you sell must consist of original content using the images. You may not sell the images individually or as part of larger collections.

Angel and children decorating the Christmas tree
This postcard features an angel in white with large wings and long blonde hair decorating a table-top Christmas tree with a couple of young girls. There is an older girl in a pink dress with dark hair holding up a younger girl in a white dress with blonde hair. There is no text.
Angel playing the harp

Auld Lang Syne
This postcard features the lyrics to Auld Lang Syne as follows:
“Should Auld acquaintance be forgot,
The friend I have loved so dearly;
My own heart warms with memories kind
And the Christmas Greetings yearly,
My roving feet may wander far
Through distant climes, O friend of mine,
But memory aye will turn to thee
And Christmas Days of Auld Lang Syne.”
There is a beautiful gold border around the lyrics with a red poinsettia wreath at the top and a small snowy scene at the bottom.
Bethlehem’s Star
This postcard features a beautiful color illustration of the three wise men on camels, gazing at Bethlehem’s star. The message below it is as follows:
“Bethlehem’s star shines from afar
With its message of peace from above
Its beacon of light leads us aright
To the Christ Child, Symbol of love.”
Blessed Christmastide
This postcard features a church in the snow with beautiful stained glass windows, framed by bare trees. The message below it is as follows:
“To greet you and wish you all the joys of the Blessed Christmastide.”
Blessings on Your Christmas – Archway
This postcard features the three wise men heading through an arch on their way to the city of Bethlehem, which you can see in the distance. To the right, there is the heading “Blessings on Your Christmas” with the following message below it.
“This day is born to you a Savior-“
May the light of His bright star
Shed happiness upon your Christmas,
Spread peace and joyfulness afar!
Then below it, there is a banner framed by holly leaves with the Matthew 2:2 verse: “We have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship Him.”
Blessings on Your Christmas – Palm Trees
This postcard is a variation on the above postcard with the three wise men framed by palm trees. To the right, there is the heading “Blessings on Your Christmas” with the following message below it.
“This day is born to you a Savior-“
May the light of His bright star
Shed happiness upon your Christmas,
Spread peace and joyfulness afar!
Then below it, there is the Matthew 2:2 verse: “We have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship Him.”
Christmas Candle in White Flowers
This postcard features a simple image of a red burning candle in a nest of white flowers and pine branches. It is framed by more pine branches on either side. There is no text.
Christmas Candle Lit Sheet Music
This postcard features a simple image of two white burning candles with pine branches, pine cones, and a small sheet music book opened to the middle. There is no text.
Child by Clock
This postcard features a small child holding a lantern and packing up a plant for Christmas. He’s standing in front of a large clock, with the time reading a few minutes before midnight. Snow is falling softly. There is no text.
Christmas and New Year Joy
This postcard features two burning white candles in a nest of red and pink flowers and red berries. On the right, there is the heading “Christmas and New Year Joy!” with the following message below it.
“May the light from candles gleaming
Be a symbol bright and clear
Of your happiness at Christmas
And your joy throughout New Year!”
Then below it, there is the John 9:5 verse: “I am the Light of the World.”
Christmas Greetings
This postcard features a snowy village with a tall steeple rising up behind the houses. On the right, there is the heading “Christmas Greetings!” with the following message below it.
“God bless your Christmas season
With happy days of cheer;
God keep His richest favors
And all His blessings near;
God grant you after Christmas
A bright and blest New Year!”
Then below it, there is the Colossians 1:2 verse: “Grace be unto you, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Dear Old Friendships
This postcard features large red poinsettias and the message “A Merry Christmas” in brown script letters with the following verse below it: “While year on year new friendships bring, / Yet still more dear old friendships cling.”
December 25 Christmas Day
This postcard features a calendar square reading “December 25 Christmas Day,” with a classic holiday image of a horse-drawn sleigh in the snow to the right of it. There are lots of holly branches with red berries and the message “A Joyful Christmas” in red letters in the bottom left-hand corner.
Divine Joy
This postcard features a pair of gold bells, framed by holly branches with red berries at the top with a message below as follows:
“A Christmas wish.
May the Divine joy, which inspired
the song of the Holy Angels when Jesus
was born, fill your heart with peace
and good will, and crown
your days with light.”
Festive Christmas Windows
This postcard features a tall colorfully lit house on a snowy evening. There is a low brick wall and glowing light post in front of the house and a man walking on the sidewalk next to it. The message on the upper right-hand side is as follows:
“As the festive Christmas windows
Send a light across the snow,
So our happy hearts at Christmas
Send a greeting to and fro-
Merry Christmas!”
For Unto You is Born
This postcard features a church at night in the snow with beautiful stained glass lit from within it. There are people dressed in their winter best heading into the church.
The postcard reads “The Season’s Greetings!” in a beautiful vintage font along the bottom and has the Luke 2:11 verse: “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
Glory to God in the Highest
This postcard has the following message in gold letters with red accents:
“Glory to God in the highest
and on Earth peace
Good will toward men.”
The message has a beautiful gold-rimmed holly and berries border.
I Love You Just the Same
This postcard features the following message with a simple holly and berries border in two corners and a snowy pine trees scene on the left-hand side:
“I’ve been thinking very hard
What to write upon this card,
I’m weary of the same old rhyme
One always sees at Christmas time;
You’ll know I love you just the same,
If I simply sign my name.
The Legend of the Christmas Rose
This beautiful linen postcard features a lovely image of Christmas roses at the top, followed by the legend of the Christmas Rose.
May Christmas Bring You Peace
This postcard features a colorful image of the wise men approaching the city of Bethlehem on camels. It has the message “May Christmas bring you peace” below it in a beautiful vintage font.
Mother and Child
This postcard features an image of Mary and Jesus with several detailed borders with bells and holly branches and berries. The postcard reads “Christmas greetings” at the top. Then there is the following message below the image of Mary and Jesus: “May Christmas give unto you joy and peace abundantly.”
O Come All Ye Faithful
This postcard features shepherds, most likely outside of the place where Jesus was born. It reads “Oh come all ye faithful” on the right-hand side with the following lyrics from the carol below:
“Oh come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant.
O Come ye, O Come ye, to Bethlehem.
Born upon earth, behold the King of angels.
O come let us adore Him,
O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.”
Pine Cones
This postcard features a classic snowy scene with lots of pine trees and a house. Overlaid on the pine trees, there are three large pine cones with a gold, snowy border, topped with several lit candles. The postcard reads “A Merry Christmas” in red script letters along the bottom.
Santa at Street Sign
This postcard features Santa stopped at a street sign, consulting it by the light of his lantern. The postcard reads “A Merry Christmas” in red letters in the bottom left-hand corner.
Santa Driving Train
This postcard features Santa driving a long train filled with toys. Kids are chasing him on either side of the train. The snowy scene is timeless and so colorful. The postcard reads “Merry Christmas” in gold block letters on the bottom.
Santa on Sled
This colorful postcard features Santa dressed in a long red robe with gold stars riding on a sled filled with toys. Santa is sledding down a snowy hill and holding a clown toy in his right hand. There is a child in a blue coat holding onto Santa and riding on the sled behind him. Snow falls all around them. The postcard reads “A Merry Christmas” in gold letters in the upper left-hand corner.
Santa with Suitcase
This postcard features Santa in a red coat and hat carrying a suitcase in his left hand and wearing a full sack on his back. The postcard reads “A Merry Christmas” in the bottom right-hand corner.
To Wish You All a Merry Christmas
This postcard features a cozy living room with a Christmas wreath hung on the window. The postcard reads “To wish you all a Merry Christmas” along the top.
Worshiping Shepherds
This postcard features Mary and baby Jesus with the wise men behind them and a couple of sheep next to the manger. The illustration has a beautiful holly leaves and berries border. The postcard reads “Christmas greeting” at the top and has a message below the image as follows:
“May the love of the worshiping shepherds abound in your heart today.”
