Mediterranean Cruise 2017 | https://www.roseclearfield.com

I recently purchased the ThinkTank SubUrban Disguise 10 for our Mediterranean cruise. (Cruise posts! Highlights | general travel tips | camera gear) Back in May, I shared the unboxing and my initial thoughts about this bag. In that post, you can also read about the other camera bags I own and why I decided to buy a new bag for this trip. Now that I’m back from the Mediterranean, I’m sharing a full review of the ThinkTank SubUrban Disguise 10.

Summerfest

Of course, it wouldn’t be summer in Milwaukee without a day at Summerfest! 2017 marks 50 years of Summerfest, and they’re pulling out all the stops for this year’s celebration. Proclaimed the World’s Largest Music Festival, approximately 900,000 people flock to the lakeside grounds to see 800 bands on 11 stages as well as enjoy delicious food and drinks, shopping, and other entertainment. The 2017 festivities take place June 28-July 2 and July 4-9.

Photography Inspiration

It’s been ages since I last put together a general photography inspiration post (the last one was in March!). I’ve been way overdue to put together another one. Since I started this blog, I’ve talked on multiple occasions about how following amazing photographers and studying stunning images is critical for improving your own photography skills. From beginner smartphone photographers to professional DSLR photographers, looking at great photos on a regular basis helps you become a better photographer.

Since 2013/2014, my single favorite way to follow great photographers has been Instagram. Despite many recent frustrations with Instagram, it remains the simplest, most effective way to process a staggering number of images each week. But, not surprisingly, I also spend a lot of time on Pinterest, more so than ever since I started this blog. There is so much great photography on Pinterest as well. Having another resource filled with gorgeous images is so helpful for keeping my creativity flowing.

Two Years with Hobbes

Hobbes 3.24.17 | https://www.roseclearfield.com

One of the very first posts I wrote on this blog was the first year of Hobbes. We brought him home on June 24, 2015, which means that he’s been in our lives just a little over two years now. First, let’s take a second to revisit baby Hobbes.

Hobbes 6.25.15 | https://www.roseclearfield.com

Who wouldn’t love that little face? I try to embrace every stage of life and not reminisce about what I don’t have anymore. But I would give a lot for a few more weeks of those baby Hobbes days, just for that adorable face (minus the garbage can diving and pantry raiding, of course).

Hobbes is the craziest kitty I’ve ever met, but he’s also one of the sweetest. He’s claimed bedtime as his time with us and is so excited to jump up on the bed as we’re settling down for the night. He’ll actually try to herd Jake into bed if he’s spending time on the computer or still doing something else after I’m ready for bed. He loves it when we make a blanket fort for him, just like a little kid, and often settles in while we watch TV or read and then falls asleep on my pillow. He goes through phases where he’ll sleep on my pillow through most of the night. Other times, he’ll hop down shortly after we turn out the lights.
