Printable hymns about mothers are perfect for masses and church services on Mother’s Day as well as for creating custom personalized wall art and other homemade gifts for moms.
You already know that I love all things sheet music and that I especially like the aesthetic of vintage sheet music. While you can create your own vintage sheet music, there’s nothing that’s quite the same as using genuine vintage sheet music.
The first vintage hymns sheet music printables I created have taken off in a way that I never imagined possible. So I’ve been rolling out additional sets of vintage hymns for specific occasions. I’ve released Christmas hymns, hymns for baptism, and hymns for Lent and Easter. Now I’m releasing printable hymns about mothers. This collection includes 13 hymns for four different hymn books, ideal for masses and church services as well as personalized Mother’s Day gifts. There are two different versions of two of the hymns.
Later this year, I’ll also be releasing a collection of patriotic/4th of July hymns. If there are any other types of hymns or hymn collections you’d like to see here, please let me know.
How to use free printable vintage hymns for mothers
- Masses and church services on Mother’s Day. Obviously, it’s natural to include one or several hymns pertaining to mothers on the mass or church service that falls on Mother’s Day.
- Any mass or church service where it’s appropriate to include a hymn on the subject of mothers. If you’ve arrived at this post in search of mother-themed music for masses and services, I don’t need to elaborate on the fact that motherhood is a universal Christian theme. There are numerous ways of working the hymns I’ve featured here into masses and services that aren’t on Mother’s Day.
- Personalized wall art and other handmade Mother’s Day gifts. One of the most popular ways to use any kind of vintage sheet music is to create one-of-a-kind wall art. You can print and frame sheet music as is or overlay text and/or images. This sort of art is ideal for Mother’s Day gifts. There are endless possibilities for using hymns to make other Mother’s Day gifts as well, such as decoupages boxes, photo frames, and decorative wooden blocks. I love using vintage hymns to create greeting cards as well.

Hymns about mothers 8×10 format
I created 8×10 JPG versions of four of the vintage hymns about mothers available in this post: Hear Thy Children Gentlest Mother, My Mother’s Bible (Favorite Hymns version), Nobody Knows But Mother, and The Sweetest Story Ever Told.
I know that many readers searching for hymns to use for homemade gifts want to download them and then personalize them. Having sheet music in 8×10 format makes this process easy and quick. If you’d like a hymn not available in 8×10 format and you don’t know how to format it, please reach out to me. I’m happy to make additional 8×10 formats.
I’ve created 8×10 versions of the vintage hymns with and without white borders. Depending on the kind of frame you select and the specific project you’re creating, you may prefer one format over the other.

Tips for printing vintage hymns about mothers
When you use printable hymns about mothers to create one-of-a-kind wall art, my personal recommendation for printing your pieces at home is Finestra Art paper.
I used Finestra Art paper to print the above vintage dictionary pages. The paper features an acid-free, matte surface, which dries ink immediately, producing crisp, vivid images. Regular printer paper, card stock, and presentation paper do work. However, the results they produce aren’t quite as nice. It’s worth spending a little more money on your paper to create professional-quality wall art, particularly when you’re making a Mother’s Day gift.
To create custom wall art, if you don’t use my 8×10 versions, you’ll have to format or crop the hymns to fit the frame of your choosing. After you’ve formatted or cropped the music to a given size, make sure to select the corresponding paper size on both the printer itself when you load the paper and on the printer menu when you print your new art. Otherwise, your music may not print properly.
