Easy DIY mom birthday cards give you tons of inspiration for creating beautiful greeting cards for all of the moms in your life.
I took the messages from my free printable Mother’s Day cards collection and created mom birthday cards. The Mother’s Day cards have been very popular. Many of the messages in those cards are perfect for mom birthdays and any other time that you need cards for the special mothers in your lives. While you can’t beat the convenience of the printable cards, I know that quite a few readers are also interested in making their own cards. Having the printable components available makes it so easy to create greeting cards in minutes. While a few cards have birthday-specific messages, many of the messages are ideal for Mother’s Day and beyond.
I created all of the DIY mom birthday cards in A2 size. I love A2 size because it’s large enough for detailed designs and for writing just a few sentences. You have enough room for a short message without feeling obligated to write a lot. All of the free printable components that I’ve created and are making available to you are sized for A2 cards. If you would like components for other card sizes, please let me know! Making these printable components allows me to use so many more fonts and messages than are available on rubber stamps. I hope that you enjoy using them as much as I do!
I printed all of my mom birthday card messages on white card stock as I wanted to have fun pairing the sayings with different colored and patterned backgrounds. Don’t feel limited to this option. You can use any color card stock that you like. I recommend printing the messages on card stock so that they will be more durable than they would be printed on regular paper.
As so many of the greeting card designs in this post are fairly simple with just a handful of components, I used foam mount squares to add visual interest to quite a few of them. I used the 0.2-inch square size for all of my designs, as I wanted dimension but not too much of it.
A handful of greeting card designs feature washi tape and stamped components. I cannot ever guarantee that the exact washi tape and stamps that I used will be available. My favorite resources on Etsy for washi tape are BBBSuppliesCRAFTSHOP and GoatGirlMH and for stamps are NoraJane and ModernMakerStamps. I sourced the vast majority of washi tape and rubber stamps for my mom birthday cards from these four shops.
I also use ribbons for a few of my mom birthday cards. I buy almost all of my ribbon from Michaels. For A2 size greeting cards, I recommend ribbon with a maximum width of 1/2″ or smaller.

I can’t help making at least one music card design in almost every greeting card collection that I create. This card features the message “happy birthday to you, Mom” on a small purple background with a large music note background and stamped music note details.
I have not found a music note background that I like nearly as much as the original one that I used, so I’ve made it available to you as well.
You shouldn’t feel limited to the music theme here. I love the concept of creating mom birthday cards for various hobbies and interests.

“To my beautiful mom, happy birthday”
This card features the message “to my beautiful mom, happy birthday” on a small purple- and pink-dotted background with a larger sea green background and real birthday candle detail.
While I love creating paper candles for birthday cards, there’s nothing quite like using real candles. If you limit your design to a few candles, the card will still fit nicely in an envelope. You can buy candles in any grocery store and places that sell birthday supplies, including party stores, craft stores, and big box stores. You can also buy birthday candles on Amazon.
I recommend using tacky glue or another clear-drying, all-purpose glue to secure your candles, as the scrapbook glue that I use for paper greeting card components isn’t strong enough.

Mother words
This card features the following words used to describe moms, lined up to spell out mom: amazing, loving, nurturing, happy, beautiful, and caring. I used a light blue background for the words on a larger vintage-inspired numbers background.
