I’m releasing my collection of free printable vintage hymns about prayer during the quarantine for the global pandemic in 2020. While hymns about prayer are fitting for masses and church services throughout the church calendar, it seems like we need them now more than ever. I hope that this sacred music brings you some comfort and peace of mind during a very difficult time.
You already know that I love all things sheet music and that I especially like the aesthetic of vintage sheet music. You can create your own vintage sheet music, which I do on occasion for certain types of DIY projects. However, there’s nothing quite like using genuine vintage sheet music.
The first printable vintage hymns collection I created has done far better than I ever imagined it would. So I’ve been rolling out additional sets of vintage hymns for specific occasions. I have Christmas hymns, hymns for baptism, hymns for Lent and Easter, and hymns about mothers.
Now I’m releasing printable hymns about prayer. This collection includes 25 hymns, ideal for masses and church services as well as custom wall art and an extensive variety of DIY projects. All of the hymns are from The American Hymnal, which is from 1926.
In a couple of weeks, I’ll be releasing a collection of patriotic/4th of July hymns. If there are any other types of hymns or hymn collections, you’d like to see here, please let me know. Don’t hesitate to reach out with requests for specific hymns as well.
How to use printable hymns about prayer

I’ve created two versions of all of the free printable vintage hymns about prayer – a PDF version and a JPG version. I know that many readers have arrived at this post looking for printable sheet music in PDF form. I know that many readers have also arrived here looking for sheet music for wall decor and craft projects and most likely prefer JPG format.
The vintage hymns about prayer are for personal use only. You may download and print them as many times as you like, which includes use for classrooms, Sunday school, church choir, and community choir. Please don’t distribute the download files. Hymns about prayer 8×10 format
I created 8×10 JPG versions of four of the vintage hymns about prayer available in this post: Jesus Intercedes for Me, Prayer Changes Things, ‘Tis the Blessed Hour of Prayer, and What a Friend.

I’ve made 8×10 versions of the hymns about prayer with and without white borders. Depending on the type of frame you choose and the exact project you’re creating, you may prefer one format over the other.

Extracting and downloading the ZIP folders
Please note that extracting and downloading the full JPG vintage hymn sets will take some time.
- When you click on the full collection link, choose the Open with ZIP Extractor option at the top of the page.
- The folder will open in a new window. The files will download.
- After the files have downloaded, click Extract Now.
- When the files are extracted and have uploaded, click View Extracted Files.
- Double click on the folder.
- To download, select the files you’d like to download. Click the three horizontal dots More Actions button. Choose Download.
- Follow the prompts on the download screen.
- I strongly recommend moving your downloaded files out of your downloads folder and into your main photos folder. Make sure to keep them in a folder labeled “Vintage Hymns About Prayer” or something similar, so you can find them easily.
Tips for printing vintage hymns about prayer
When you use printable hymns about prayer to create unique wall decor, my personal recommendation for printing your pieces at home is Finestra Art paper.
I used Finestra Art paper to print the above vintage dictionary pages. The paper has an acid-free, matte surface, which dries ink instantly, creating crisp, vibrant images. Regular printer paper, card stock, and presentation paper do work. But the results they produce aren’t as nice. It’s worth the money for nice paper to create professional-quality wall art, especially when you’re making gifts.
To create personalized wall art, if you don’t use my 8×10 versions, you’ll need to crop or format the hymns to fit the frame(s) of your choosing. After you’ve cropped or formatted the music to a specific size, make sure to select the corresponding paper size on both the printer itself when you load the paper and the printer menu when you print your new art. Otherwise, your music may not print properly.
